1. Hide a kindness note in a lunchbox

A sticky note that says “I’m glad you’re my brother” or “You make recess fun” takes ten seconds and can turn a whole day around. Let your child write it for a sibling, a parent, or a friend.

2. Do a secret kindness and sign it “From: Nobody”

Leave a treat on a desk, put away someone’s shoes, or tape a happy drawing to a door, and never tell who did it. Kids are always surprised by how good a secret kindness feels.

3. Make thank-you cards for everyday helpers

The mail carrier, the bus driver, the lunch lady, the crossing guard. Hand-drawn cards are perfect. Our free printable card maker makes it easy.

4. Invite someone new to play

Talk with your child about the kid who sits alone at lunch or stands at the edge of the playground. Practicing the words “Do you want to play with us?” at home makes it easier to say at school.

5. Paint kindness rocks

Paint smooth rocks with short, cheerful words like “You matter” or “Be brave,” then leave them in a park or garden for someone to find.

6. Give away a toy or book they have outgrown

Let your child choose something in good shape and help them donate it. Talk about who might be happy to get it.

7. Bake and deliver cookies with a grown-up

Bring a plate to a neighbor, a new family on your street, or someone who has been sick. Kids love being the delivery crew.

8. Make a Kindness Coupon Book

Fold and staple a few sheets of paper into a tiny book and fill it with coupons like “One free hug,” “I will help clean your room for 10 minutes,” or “I will let you pick the game.” Then give the whole book away.

9. Help clean up a mess you didn’t make

Picking up toys that are not yours, wiping the table after dinner, or helping a teacher straighten the reading corner. Quiet help is still help.

10. Start a family compliment jar

Everyone writes true, kind compliments about each other on slips of paper. Read them together at dinner on Friday.

11. Write chalk messages on the sidewalk

“Have a great day!” or “You are loved” in bright chalk cheers up everyone who walks by.

12. Read to a younger brother, sister, or cousin

Big kids feel proud, little kids feel special, and both get more reading time.

13. Pray for someone by name

At bedtime, ask your child to name one person who is having a hard week and pray for them together. It teaches kids that kindness starts in the heart.

14. Play a free kindness game

Our Heartache Hero kindness game lets kids ages 5 to 9 choose kind ways to help in everyday situations. No login, no ads.

15. Try the 7-Day Kindness Challenge

One tiny kindness mission a day for a week. Print the free 7-Day Kindness Challenge and stick it on the fridge so kids can check off each day.

A Tip for Parents and Teachers: Kindness Is Not for Points

Sticker charts and kindness tallies can be fun, but kids catch on fast. If every kind act earns a reward, some kids start being kind only when someone is watching. Try celebrating the secret kindnesses too, the ones nobody counts. The Bible says love “keeps no record of wrongs” (1 Corinthians 13:5), and real kindness does not need a scoreboard either.
