What God Made on Each Day of Creation
- Day 1 (Genesis 1:3-5): God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. He called the light Day and the darkness Night.
- Day 2 (Genesis 1:6-8): God made the firmament, the sky, to divide the waters above from the waters below. He called it Heaven.
- Day 3 (Genesis 1:9-13): God gathered the waters into seas, made the dry land appear, and filled the earth with grass, plants, and fruit trees.
- Day 4 (Genesis 1:14-19): God made the sun to rule the day, the moon to rule the night, and the stars.
- Day 5 (Genesis 1:20-23): God filled the waters with sea creatures and the sky with birds.
- Day 6 (Genesis 1:24-31): God made the animals that live on the land. Then He made man and woman in His own image. God saw everything He had made, and it was very good.
- Day 7 (Genesis 2:1-3): God finished His work and rested. He blessed the seventh day and made it holy.
A Fun Question to Ask Your Kids
Look at Day 1 and Day 4. God made light on Day 1, but He did not make the sun until Day 4 (Genesis 1:3 and 1:16). Ask your kids: “Where did the light come from on Day 1?” It is a great way to talk about how God is the source of all light.
